8 globe artichokes, trimmed 1-2 cloves garlic
olive oil salt and pepper


1.Place the artichokes in afairly tall saucepan.Add the garlic and pour in a mixture of two parts olive oil and one part water until the artichokes are two-thirds covered.
2.Season with salt and pepper to taste, cover and cook over a low heat for about 30 minutes.
