50 g/2 oz butter
4 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons curry powder
1 tablespoon plain flour
salt and pepper


1.Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the onion and cook over a low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes until softened.
2.Mix the curry powder with a little hot water to make a paste.
3.Sprinkle the flour into the saucepan and stir well, then stir in the curry paste.
4. Cook over a low heat for 30 minutes, gradually adding more water as it is absorbed. Season with salt and pepper.
5.For vegetables, eggs or poultry.
